The second annual Frankenthon Monster Marathon will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
Big Frankenthon Monster Marathon Thank You!
Thanks everyone for a great race! You can find the results here
I want to thank all the volunteers this morning, without whom this race could not have happened. Paul Williams, Nancy Dasso, Craig Potts, Jack and Jeanne Wilkinson, Rachel Joseph, Poor Old Joe Warner, Ryan Frolow, Scott Taylor, Vance Taylor, Michelle Livaudais, Steve Gresser, Myriam Cabrera, Brett and Christine Schneider, and most importantly my lovely wife, Shelley.
Shelley did the design for the website, the shirts, medals, socks and bibs. (And she put up with me being stressed the last few days and stayed up Thursday night after midnight stuffing packets with me). She rocks.
Special thanks to Christine-Michelle Schneider for an amazing rendition of the National Anthem this morning, for lending us Brett and for both of them working the start/finish line with us.
Congratulations to everyone who ran today. It made me proud to see all of you out there kicking ass and I wish I could have joined you.
On the men's side Marc Bergman took us out fast on his way to the Men's course record of 2:58:24, while Nancy Dasso led all females in a 3:29:09 picking up her second overall marathon victory.
For the masters Parvaneh Moayedi took the title in 3:49:18 while finishing her 160th marathon, and Brendon Cahoon notched a 3:11:50 to set the masters mark for the men. So those are your goals times for next year everyone ;)
Also, in what is quickly becoming a habit for me, I teared up when I saw Michelle Ryan qualify for Boston. Also, the look I saw on JJ Cabrera's face when he realized that he had just qualified for Boston by 21 seconds was priceless. Congratulations to you both. Keeping on the Boston theme, there were 12 people qualifying for Boston this morning:
Women:
Sandy Cumming
Nancy Dasso
Parvaneh Moayedi
Michelle Ryan
Men:
Marc Bergman
John Boone
JJ Cabrera
Brendon Cahoon
Matthew Fisher
Russell Hahn
Patrick Hall
Arthur Lopez
Thanks again to our great sponsors: Performance Wellness, Rogue Equipment, Mizuno, Run-Far, and my family. We couldn't do it without you. If you have comments please feel free to send them my way, let us know what we did right, and what we can improve on next year.
For those of you who didn't pick up your awards they will be available at the Run-Far office on South Lamar. Contact Raul (raul@run-far.com) or Megan (megan@run-far.com), to claim your loot.
Once again, the results are live here.
See you in 2010.
